Symposium and Annual Meeting, The Northeast Chapter of the Association for Preservation Technology International encompasses New England, New York State, and northern New Jersey. Our chapter is committed to serving this large geographic community with regional and local preservation events. Many of our members will recall that the APT New York Chapter was founded in the mid-1980s with members from New York and neighboring states. It conducted workshops, co-sponsored events with local and statewide preservation organizations, and sponsored symposia. After a period of dormancy the chapter was reorganized to meet the technical needs of its members and to create a regional network of preservation professionals. The reorganization spawned the APT Northeast Chapter. The Board of
Directors of the
Northeast Chapter hosted the group's
first symposium and annual meeting in January 2003 at Yale University
in New
Haven, Connecticut. The event was attended by approximately 140 people
from
throughout the region with different professional and educational
backgrounds.
In 2005 the chapter sponsored a symposium and annual meeting at the
Cooper
Union in New York City; an architectural-envelope evaluation workshop
at the
Freylinghuysen Morris House and Studio in Lenox, Massachusetts; and a
work
weekend at Camp Sagamore in the Adirondacks. 2006-2007
